Scomazzon’s fruit farm and store is an institution in the Daintree, owned and operated by a fourth-generation farming family. The property was purchased in the 1930s, but the fruit farm wasn’t started until the late 1970s, when the Scomazzon family went to Malaysia to get fruit seed and stock. Today it’s a mixed tropical fruit farm with rambutans, mangosteens, durians and bananas, and in addition to selling to commercial buyers, they have a farm store stocked with fresh local produce and artisan creations.
Their focus is on sustainable practices, growing and supplying home-grown produce that ‘tastes like it should’. As guests on a Daintree Sensations tour, you’ll visit the farm and see hand harvesting of exotic, tropical fruits, culminating in a delicious taste testing. What you will try is determined by the season, but their bounty is both colourful and plentiful, sure to excite and delight.
